Actually, strike that, because today we got two (2) phone calls from Daddy! Because all the special events that would normally be happening for the end of BMT were cancelled, his superiors decided that all the trainees could have some extra phone time. He had been looking forward to the Airmen's Run and the Coin Ceremony since before he went to Basic, but honestly at this point I think he was just as happy to be able to talk with us. And he said that tomorrow he'll be able to call again! So glad the MTI's are being so generous with his time.
When the Coronavirus isn't shutting down the world, every week in Lackland sees another group of trainees graduate. Thursdays there's the Airmen's Run and the Coin Ceremony; Fridays is the Graduation Ceremony and Tap-Out; and Saturday and Sunday there's liberty and time for the airmen to hang out with their families. Because people who know how to milk cows are scarce, I wasn't going to be able to go to those festivities. I had actually communicated with a facebook group of other family of trainees in Dad's training squadron, mostly moms, and had gotten several volunteers who were willing to make sure someone tapped him out after graduation and also to take him along for their family activities on the weekend. I was so glad that he wasn't going to be the lone airman sitting in his dorm all evening while his friends were with their families! But now they're all having a graduation (which will be livestreamed on Facebook) and then leaving for Tech School in the wee smalls of the following morning. No town passes, no family, no nothing. Even military members who are family can't come on base to visit their trainees--base essential personnel only. So now all those wonderful ladies who were so eager to help my husband have a nice time over graduation weekend are heartbroken and trying to get money back from airlines, car rentals and AirBNBs, with varying degrees of success. Say a prayer, folks, because there's a lot of sadness tied up in all this.
My smartphone is still on the fritz, but today it actually charged all the way to 65%--enough for me to get some pictures, but not enough to be able to get them all saved to the cloud before it died. Oh well, here are a few!

Here's Tea Rose, enjoying the sunshine today!
Here's Bean, hard at play!
Here's Dilly, waiting for the piggies to come see her!
And here are some of those little piggies! They're so spunky and fun!
Huh, I thought I managed to upload more than that. Oh well. Anyway, it should give you an idea of how our day was: full of new life, warmth, and even some sunshine. I know better than to trust March, or April, but spring is on the way and sometimes you can't help but let it into your heart, if only just a little.
